Summary[]

Hamilton is supposed to entrust Mindy with $1,000 prize money for the winner of a race, but he foolishly gives it to Mork, who accidentally puts it in the blender.

Plot[]

Up in Mork's room in the McConnell's house, Orson is speaking with Mork, wanting to know if there's any truth to the Earth saying "Early to Bed, Early to Rise, Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise." Mork admits he doesn't know and asks him if he would like him to investigate. Orson affirms, saying if it is true it could be a valuable lesson for other Orkans. Signing off, Mork checks his ankle watch and tells Doing its 8pm, early enough for it to be the perfect time to test out the saying. Telling his pet to head to bed, he'll set his ankle alarm to get them up real early. Far earlier than expected, as the alarm goes off barely 30 seconds later, waking the already fast asleep pair.

Yawning and out of it, Mork decides to head down to the kitchen to make an Orkan style 'breakfast' shake to help wake them up. Outside, still only 8pm, Hamilton pulls up in his racy new sportscar, his blaring on the horn startling Mork. Coming out to see what the noise is, Mork greets Hamilton who immediately wants to know where Mindy is? Yawning, Mork tells him she's working at the Music Store that evening. Hamilton informs him that the Drivers Ed. Class chose her to award a 1,000 dollar prize to the winner of tomorrow's cross country race. Not bothering to get out, Hamilton throws the roll of cash at the sleepy Mork. The roll bouncing off his head, Doing catching it, leads Hamilton to yell at him to watch out, that that is a lot of lettuce. He makes it clear that Mindy should get it when she gets back, because he intends to win it the next day in his super imported Linguini Macaroni Special, before he races off in his Italian sports car.

Still yawning, Mork heads back inside, returning to the making of his special shake, adding yet more ingredients to the bizarre concoction before realizing he's forgotten the lettuce, and looking around for it. Doing, having heard Hamilton call the money lettuce, hands the roll of bills to Mork who without properly looking tosses it into the blender, hitting the switch to turn it on. And promptly falling asleep on his feet. Which is how a returning Mindy finds him, having to poke him to wake him up, then asking him if Hamilton came by with the prize money for the race the next day. Sure, he confirms, telling her that Doing is holding on to it, before jolting in sudden realization asking Doing where the lettuce is and then remembering where it is, looking to the blender and turning it off rapidly. Upending it, Mork picks up the glutenous thick mess, the money clearly chopped up into it, as Mindy asks what that is? Stammering, Mork tells her it's the thousand lettuces that Hamilton gave him. Mindy groaning.

Later, Mork and Doing sitting forlornly on the couch, Mindy paces. Apologizing again, Mork saying he got confused by Hamilton calling it lettuce, Mindy decides its not his fault, but he's got to learn not to take Earth slang literally! Mork though is concerned about how they're going to replace all the lettuce so they don't think his Little Mama stole it. But she's sure there's absolutely no way they can replace 1,000 dollars by the end of the race the next day. Mork jolting alert at her words, seizing excitedly on the race. All he has to do is win the race. Grabbing her hands he tells her that then she can award him the lettuce that she doesn't have, and he'll give her back the lettuce that he didn't get! But Mindy thinks it'd never work. She's seen Hamilton's race car and feels it would just scramble Mork's egg car. But Mork tut tuts her lack of faith, and says he has every chance of winning if he gives his car an Orkan style 'tune down', then in mid enthusiasm he falls back asleep. Mindy waking him up again, agrees to his plan but suggests he better get some sleep as he looks pooped. Yawning, he heads back to his closet, he and Doing hitting the the bar until his ankle alarm wakes them up again, setting his 'early to bed, early to rise' motif that Orson wants tested, in motion again.

Out in the garage, Mindy watches Mork upside down, tinkering and working on his car, Doing branding it with an 8, just before Hamilton pulls up in his racer. Laughing at the notion that Mork is entering his 'Humpty Dumpty Heap' into the race, Hamilton gets told off by Mindy who says Mork has just as much chance of winning as anyone. Anyone but the great Hamilton and his custom made gadgets, Hamilton replies, indicating the buttons on his dash. Demonstrating his automatic tire changer meaning he needs no pit stops and his auto windshield replacer. When Mork remarks on them admiringly, Hamilton tells him he's not seen anything, he has lots more that he will deploy during the race, and tells him that he'll see Mork at the starting line...after he crosses the finish line, before he drives away.

At the race later on, along the starting line, Mork and Doing are seated in his car, which is vibrating noticably, giving off odd sounds. In his car beside him, an amused Hamilton tells him to give up, he has no chance. But Mork is determined, and confident, until the flag goes down and all the cars race off, Hamilton's car literally leaving Mork's in a spin. Trying to get it going, Mork hits a button, but shoots his car backwards, towards the Judges stand. All three judges, Mindy included, gaping in alarm as he reverses at speed towards them, hitting the stand and knocking Mindy out of it, and into the seat beside him. Yelling at him to get it out of forward into reverse, as they continue to push the judging stand backwards. Mork yells back, that it is in forward, but is going backwards. Grabbing a crash helmet, she calls for him to put into reverse, maybe it'll go forward! Her suggesting working. Only for Mork to find he's unable to steer straight, the car zig zagging and shooting off the road, heading across a field towards a barn. When Mindy warns him, and tells him to hit the brakes, he tells her that they have a bad break in that they have no brakes. Careening through the barn they come out covered in hay, pigs and chickens.

As Mork dispenses with the animals, Mindy sees their next problem, as they head straight towards the farmhouse. Hoping his jets aren't scrambled too, Mork hits them and the Egg takes off, shooting up over the house and right past a jet above. The pilots gape, checking with each other they both saw an Unidentified Flying Egg. One pilot stopping the other when he suggests they call it in, saying they'll think they've flipped their lid. In the flying Grimbel Pizzati, Mindy urges Mork to take them down so they can get back race. Telling her not to worry, he'll make a 4 point landing, he takes the car down. Straight down. Mindy yelling in alarm for him to pull out, as the car heads nose first for earth, until Mork deploys a screw drill at the front of the car, which digs itself into the ground.

At the head of the race, Hamilton is already celebrating himself as the best. The cars racing along unaware that Mork's car is burrowing along at a rate of knots below them. Hamilton chuckling, thinks there's no way he's going to lose and the 1,000 dollars are as good as his. That is until Mork's car pops up out of the ground directly behind him. On hearing Mindy jubilantly tell Mork that he's done it, Hamilton resorts to his other gadgets and releases an oil slick, sending them into a spin. With no brakes and unable to stop, Mork tells Doing it's up to him, they've got to stop and clean up the oil before the other cars hit it and there's an accident. The Hibijonee climbing over the back of the car, he uses his sucker paws to attach himself to it and the road, gradually pulling the car to a halt. Hopping out, Mork tells Mindy he'll be right back and uses his finger to suction up the oil.

Standing up he calls back to the others about it being a close call, and forgets about the rest of the oncoming racers. Covering himself as the cars raced by him and their car, Mindy bemoans their being back in last place again. But Mork is as optimistic as ever, reminding her of his motto, where there is a Mork there's a way! Getting his car running again, Mork guns it and takes them back through the racing pack and right back onto the heels of Hamilton's car again. to the shock of the gloating leader. When Mindy delightedly praises Mork, he tells her never to underestimate a Grimbel Pizatti, the incredible Jettable Egg.

Hamilton is not done however, and figures he'll show them how to beat an egg. Hitting another of his gadgets Hamilton deploys an extendable arm. As Mindy points out quickly that he's cheating again, the arm proceeds to whip the front two wheels off of Mork's car. Responding for Mindy's cry for him to do something to stop Hamilton, Mork tells her he has it under control and deploys a mechanical hand of his own which grasps Hamilton's mechanical hand and delivers an electrical shock to hit. Sending it haywire. The hand returning to Hamilton's car starts to dismantle it, taking it apart, part by part with Hamilton powerless to stop it as it brings what remains of his car to a stop before the line. Mork's car bouncing to a stop a fraction over it. The checkered flag coming down, and Judges promptly declaring Mork, Mindy and their strange cat dog thing the winners.

Handing the trophy by the Mayor, he asks Mindy if he gave Mork the 1,000 dollar prize, caught on the hop, Mindy squirms until Mork confirms she absolutely did and when he gets home that night he's going to drink it. Drink it, the Mayor repeats confused. Chuckling Mindy tells him he wouldn't understand, but that its going to be a very rich drink.
