Synopsis[]

Mork's attempt to find's Exidor's mother, as a special wedding gift to his friend, backfires when he succeeds. And the equally crazy Princess Lusitania, promptly chains herself to Mindy's counter in protest at Exidor's wedding to Ambrosia.

Plot[]

In Mindy's Apartment, she and Ambrosia are going over the details for Ambrosia's wedding to Exidor, Ambrosia thanking her for all her help. Mindy brushes it off saying she likes her, and anyone marrying Exidor needs all the help they can get! The man himself wearing a ski mask and rubber floats on his arms comes down from Mork's attic yelling up at entourage member, Friedlander that no matter how fasts he rows he's never getting Steinmetz up on those skis. Ambrosia loves that he is so 'forceful' and asks him what he's up to. Skinny dipping in Mork's lake he tells her, his last swing as a single man. When Mork enters excitedly chanting 'I did it! I did it! I did it!' Mindy immediately groans, bracing herself, asking 'You did what?' warily. Something right this time he tells her, having gotten Exidor a wedding present he's incredibly proud of. Something Exidor hasn't seen since Exidor grew up in that orphanage. A Native American war cry heralds the arrival of 'Princess Lusitania', Exidor's mother, garbed out in Native American style clothing, and as crazed looking as her son.

Her cry of 'Exidor' is followed by her completely bypassing the outstretched arms of her son and making her way around the couch to embrace Mindy as her son. Mindy points out she is not her son, Lusitania saying it's been a long time. Mork's comment that it was a natural mistake getting him a death glare from Mindy. 'Mom! Is that you?!" Exidor calls. "Cuspidor!" she echoes, embracing him. As Mother and Son reunite, Ambrosia thanks Mork for his wonderful present, Mindy echoing that he really did do good this time, Mork asking them to beat him with praise, he can take it. Exidor tells his mother he thought she was dead, Mork opining if she is she leaves a very active afterlife. But if she's a live Exidor points out, that means she deserted him. No, Lusitania explains, he was taken from her. She sent him out to play, and when she went to get him a half hour later, she stepped out of the car, remembering they were travelling at 70mph heading for Denver. When she woke up 2 weeks later he was gone, and she was being nursed back to help by Native Americans, and has been with them ever since. Ambrosia commiserates, but Lusitania replies the important thing is...and then stops looking up at the ceiling, everyone else following suit. That's my Mom, Exidor tells them. She never finished a bed time story either.

Exidor explains to his mother, he's engaged to Ambrosia and they're getting married tomorrow. She asks them if they're really in love, and Ambrosia confirms very much so. Which, Lusitania says, is what she was afraid of. Opening the carpet bag she brought with her she starts to pull out a very heavy duty chain which she wraps around her waist. Getting Mork to help her with her crazy heavy bag she heads for the kitchen, Mindy moving after them quickly wanting to know what she's planning to do with the chain, and watching as Lusitania wraps it around the wooden pillar on Mindy's counter. Lusitanian answering it's just a mother's way of saying 'He's Mine', telling Exidor she's not leaving the apartment till he agrees to call off the marriage. Exidor protests that that's unfair, showing up after 35 years, saying how are you and chaining herself to a post, moving after her after she disappears into Mindy's bedroom, stretching the chain out, sending Mork & Mindy scurrying back. As a stunned Ambrosia approaches them, and Mindy turns a look on him, Mork informs them it's important at a time like this to remember that it's the thought that counts.

Sitting on the couch, Mindy wonders if Ambrosia really knows what she's getting into? Ambrosia knows that most people don't get her relationship with Exidor, but before he came along her life was a dull succession of quiet conservative men in brown suits and wingtips. Then Exidor arrived, 'the last of the swashbucklers' and every day is tubing the bonsai pipeline. Mork nods, saying it's understandable, knowing Mindy feels the same way about him. He says modestly, she retorts. Ambrosia is just happy for the color he brings into her life with his invisible friends and lakes in the attic, sometimes wishing she had them too. Mork is hopeful then that she's not mad at him for bringing home Lusitania. She can't be all bad, Ambrosia notes, she had Exidor. Mindy feels that's very generous of her, but she still doesn't want a woman chained up in her house. Ambrosia feels her 'silver tongued' fiancé can talk her around. Exidor comes back out with something his mother has been saving for him, giving the box to Mork who pulls out little bronzed baby hip booties. Mindy however is more concerned with whether she's going or not. She'll leave right away if they promise to postpone the wedding. Ambrosia is wary of what he's thinking. Mindy points out that if they postpone it this time she'll only make them postpone it again. Exidor reacts badly saying he doesn't want to hear any 'girlish' babble, he wants to hear from the voice of reason. Mork. Mork repeats Mindy's words verbatim, Exidor says that makes sense! When Mindy leans to tell Ambrosia that if they go ahead with their plans, Lusitania will see they're calling her bluff and will give in...Exidor nods and thanks Mork, saying that's exactly what he's going to do. But tonight is his bachelor party in the apartment, he points out wondering what they're going to do with his mother. Mork suggests they can hang her out the window by her chain and let her dangle?

That night, with Mindy and Ambrosia gone, as Mork is setting up a projector, Remo arrives with supplies for the bachelor party, and clambering over the chain warns Mork that he's only doing this for him, as far as he's concerned someone's deep fried Exidor's brain. He also doesn't hold Boulder bachelor parties in high esteem calling them 'Rocky Mountain Lows'. However when he hears Exidor is out getting some stag movies for the projector, he perks right up. He perks up even more after he asks about the chain going into the bedroom, and Mork tells him 'Lucy' is at the end of it. Remo's excitement grows at the idea of a woman at the end of a 30 foot chain, especially when Mork tells her she has feathers. Nelson arrives and starts handing out Win with Flavor badges for his campaign wondering where 'Mr Exidor' is, feeling, as he's officiating at the wedding he should probably meet him. Right on cue, Exidor arrives, film in hand, throwing out an invisible gate crasher, proclaiming the place crowded as it is. Nelson, never having met Exidor before is unsettled to find that *that* is the groom. Mork introduces Nelson to Exidor as Mindy's cousin and as the two men shake hands, Lusitania's chain starts to shake, setting Remo off into a paroxysm of excitement. 'She's raring to go!' But Nelson isn't so happy to hear 'she' hoping they mean a dog. But Remo is seriously overheating at the prospect of a 'chick in feathers', and Nelson proclaims him and Mork sick.

When Exidor starts the movie however it turns out to be an blank reel, leaving Nelson wondering if his eyes are getting worse, and Mork commenting that it certainly leaves a lot to the imagination and you wanting more. As Remo complains there's nothing there, he's left with plenty to deal with as Lusitania emerges from Mindy's bedroom to walk out wrapping her chain around Nelson as she comes, and seating herself beside a horrified Remo. Clarifying that that's 'Lucy', with Mork, Remo is further freaked out when Exidor 'bags' his mother's head to stop her watching 'this trash', and telling Mork he 'can't take anymore of this!', Remo heads tor the door declaring this is 'a little too rough for me!' saying Boulder guys have shown him a couple of new twists. He's closely followed by Nelson who declares chaining and bagging someone's mom is not his idea of hi jinks, and high tails it out as well, leaving Exidor yelling 'Spike it Honey!' at the invisible naked volleyball game going on on screen.

Later after Ambrosia and Mindy's return, Mindy asks Mork how the party went, Mork saying things really livened up after they took the back off of Lusitania's head. Lusitania tells her she enjoyed herself getting to know 'Labrador' better. They could have a bachelor party every night if he wasn't getting married the next day. But he is, Ambrosia reminds her. But Lusitania says she has one more card up her sleeve. She announces she's going to put herself into a trance and will stay in it until the marriage is called off, or until she dies. Promptly sitting herself down on the couch to do so. Looking sheepishly at Mindy, Mork suggests they look on the bright side...he could have found Exidor's father too.

Calling on Jeanie, Mindy listens to her diagnosis of Princess Lusitania's 'trance', Jeanie telling her that Lusitania's vitals are fine, and that when a person is in a real trance their heartbeat slows way down. Vindicated, Mindy marches to the closed bedroom door to inform Ambrosia inside that she's definitely faking, but is greeted with a less than enthusiastic 'Yahoo'. Jeanie exchanging looks with Mindy asks her what she's going to do with Lusitania during the ceremony. Realizing that Jeanie hasn't heard this particular part of the 'tale' yet, she recounts how Exidor decided that he wanted to have the ceremony in the woods by a lake, so....they're having it in the attic, and he and Mork are up there right now 'clearing out the underbrush'. Heading out Jeanie tells her she and Remo will bring by the rest of the food when they come back for the wedding, along with her snake bite kit.

The time for the ceremony arrives, and despite all the wedding decorations bedecking the place, Nelson who is officiating, notes straight off to Remo, Jeannie and Mork that they are in an attic. Mork tries to explain that Exidor is 'a little eccentric', and gives him Exidors version of the ceremony to read, written on an old tuna fish sandwich bag. Exidor arrives in his 'tuxedo robes'. telling Mork he still can't get through to his 'entranced' mother. Jeannie tries to console him, telling him it's 'his day', Exidor thanking her, then wanting to know from Mork who she is, wh she's at his wedding and his burro is outside 'cooling his hooves?!' . Mindy, acting as Ambrosia's bridesmaid signals Mork to start the music because she's ready, and Mork puts on an old gramophone recording of the Bridal March, dancing across the attic to it, until Nelson stops him. Starting the ceremony, Nelson is forced to stop however, when the sound of dragging chains, causes Exidor to fold and ask Ambrosia if they can postpone the wedding for a month. Which in turn forces Ambrosia to level with Exidor, telling him she doesn't want to tell him what to do, but there comes a time when a son has to cut the cord, even if he needs a hacksaw to do it. The decision is his but he needs to make it soon, she tells him before she starts to cry, burying her head on Mindy's shoulder. Mork takes it on himself to go and speak to Lusitania, as he was the one who brought her there, and feels that a good old fashioned dose of honest cruelty is what is required...before girding himself to go do it.

Sitting himself down beside her on the couch, Mork tries to reason with her, telling her that while she says she loves Exidor he's upstairs trying to have one of the happiest moments of his life, but she's down here making him feel miserable. He points out that they're going to get married with or without her, and that he knows that Princess Lusitania isn't even her real name and tells her to drop the act, only to to panic slightly when she bursts into tears. Telling him it's not fair, she's only just found her son again, she never really had him and she doesn't even have any memories. He knows its not fair, that you can't relive the past, but she's lucky, she has the chance to get 2 memories for the price of one, a son's and a daughters. She tells him he doesn't understand, 35 years of hoping, and when she finds him, he rejects her. Mothers always lose, she tells him tearfully.

Mork returns upstairs, everyone moving to him eagerly, only for him to tell him 'I blew it'. She's packing up her chains and heading up for her wigwam. Ambrosia looking to Exidor asks if he wants to say goodbye to her. He does, he tells her, but right now he wants to get married to her more, and tells Mork to hit the music, everyone rushing back to their places, as Mork dances across the room again. As Nelson begins again, he stops suddenly and everyone looks to see what he's looking at Lusitania addressing her son. Telling him that she was thinking about what Mork had said to her, and he was right, she wants very much to see his wedding, but she'll only do it on one condition, that Ambrosia forgives her, and will be her daughter. Ambrosia happily hugs her with a 'Hi Mama'....before they all line up to take their places once more.

Mork gives his report to Orson making animal noises. Mork in a good mood tells Orson he got Exidor to the attic on time, he and Ambrosia finally got hitched, so now its 'double or nothing'. Orson in interested in how an Earthling goes about getting married? Mork tells him, you give a little blood, you get a license, and then you're in business. You need to get a license, like a drivers license, Orson queries? Not really, he tells him, they make you take a test when you learn to drive, but the only test of a marriage is the test of time. Is it worth the risk then, Orson wants to know. It's an emotional investment Mork answers, and in these inflated times its the bond between two people that yields the biggest dividends.
