Laverne DeFazio, a friend of Fonzie's, makes a guest appearance in the special 1-hour pilot of episode Mork & Mindy titled "The Mork & Mindy Special". Laverne was played by Penny Marshall, who played her on another highly successful ABC-TV Happy Days spinoff series, Laverne & Shirley.
About Laverne
A tough-talking type, Laverne's the longtime best friend of grade school and high school classmate Shirley Feeny, as both would later live together in an apartment in Milwaukee, where they also worked together as bottlecappers at Shotz Brewery there, before moving together to Southern California, along with her father, Frank DeFazio and his new wife, Edna Babish, who was the landlord of the apartment building in which they shared an apartment together for 5 years.
In her guest appearance on Mork & Mindy, Fonzie sets her up on a sort of "blind date" with Mork, who visited 1978 Milwaukee to ask him for advice on how to romance a woman, as Laverne is later taken aback by Mork's strange Orkan ways, as she asks Fonzie upon Mork, "You set me up with this jerk!!??", this, after Mork greets her with the Morkan handshake and a "Nanu, Nanu!"
After settling into their date", Laverne later has to fight him off as Mork gets his signals mixed up as to how to "flatter" her, as she tries to give him romantic tips as well, as he, thinking that "no" is "yes", winds up trying to "tweak her earlobe", and the chases her around the Cunningham's living room in the process!
